About Guava

What makes Guava different from other salons?

Since 1996, "We've specialised in all hair types and textures".. ( as we started off as a salon specilising in all hair types but now known for curls but still offer traditional hair styling too.

Where are you located?

We're located on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. Our salon features private head spa rooms overlooking the garden, a tranquil treatment environment, and a thoughtfully designed space that invites you to pause, breathe, and restore.

Do I need to be a regular client to book with you?

Not at all. We welcome new clients and look forward to meeting you. We do ask that first-time clients arrive a few minutes early to complete our consultation forms, which help us understand your needs and provide the best possible care.

Appointments & Bookings

How do I book an appointment?

You can book online through our website, call us directly, or book in person during your visit. We'll confirm your appointment via email or SMS and send you a reminder closer to your appointment date.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking 2-4 weeks in advance, especially for weekends, colour services, or appointments with specific stylists. For head spa and skin treatments, we suggest booking even further ahead as our treatment rooms have limited availability.

Can I request a specific stylist or therapist?

Absolutely. If you've worked with someone previously or have been referred to a particular team member, please let us know when booking and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.

What if I need to change my appointment?

We understand that life happens. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to reschedule. We require at least 48 hours' notice for changes to avoid cancellation fees. See our full cancellation policy below.

What happens if I'm running late?

Please call us as soon as you know you'll be late. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after your scheduled time, we may need to shorten your service or reschedule to respect our other clients' appointments. The full-service price will still apply for shortened services.

Do you offer consultations before booking a service?

Every appointment begins with a thorough consultation. For significant colour changes, complex textured hair services, or if you're uncertain about which service is right for you, we're happy to arrange a complimentary pre-booking consultation. Please call us to arrange this.

I have curly hair—can you help me?

Yes! We're specialists in curly and textured hair. Whether you have waves, curls, coils, or are transitioning to natural texture, our team has the expertise and passion to help you embrace and care for your hair. We use curl-specific cutting and styling techniques, and we'll educate you on how to maintain your curls at home.

What is a head spa treatment?

Our head spa services are luxurious, therapeutic treatments performed in private rooms overlooking our garden. They combine scalp massage, cleansing rituals, and targeted treatments to promote relaxation, improve scalp health, and restore balance. Each treatment is customised to your needs and designed to feel like a restorative retreat.

Do you offer skin treatments?

Yes. We offer holistic skin therapies that consider your skin as part of your overall wellness. Our treatments use low-tox, natural products and are tailored to your skin type, concerns, and lifestyle. We focus on long-term skin health rather than quick fixes.

What does "low-tox" mean?

Low-tox refers to products and practices that minimise exposure to potentially harmful chemicals. We prioritise natural, earth-derived ingredients and avoid unnecessary synthetic additives. We were among the first salons in our region to embrace low-tox colour systems, and this philosophy extends across our hair, skin, and body care offerings.

Do you use ammonia-free colour?

Yes. We specialise in low-tox colour systems that deliver beautiful, long-lasting results without compromising your health or comfort. We'll discuss the best options for your hair during your consultation.

Can you work with all hair types and textures?

Absolutely. While we specialise in curly and textured hair, our team is trained across all hair types, lengths, and textures. We celebrate diversity and ensure every client feels welcome, understood, and cared for.

Do you offer services for men?

Yes. Guava welcomes everyone seeking quality, care, and an experience that feels restorative. Our services are tailored to individual needs regardless of gender.

Pricing & Payment

Do you offer package deals or memberships?

If you have a special request please reach out to the team at Guava and we'll endeavor to create an ultimate experience for you or a loved one.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept most major cards (excluding American Express), We also offer the option of Afterpay. Gift certificates can also be redeemed toward services.

Do you have gift certificates available?

Yes. Gift certificates are available for purchase in any amount or for specific services. They're valid for 3 years from the date of purchase and make a thoughtful gift for anyone who deserves to feel cared for. You can purchase them in salon, over the phone, or online.

Is tipping expected?

Tipping is never expected at Guava, but it's always appreciated if you'd like to acknowledge exceptional service. Our team is compensated fairly, and your satisfaction is our priority.

Products & Retail

What products do you use and sell?

We carefully select products that align with our values—low-tox, effective, and suitable for diverse hair and skin types. Our retail range includes professional hair care, styling products, and skin treatments that we trust and use ourselves. We're happy to recommend products tailored to your individual needs.

Can I order products if I can't visit in person?

Yes. Please contact us to arrange product purchases, and we can organise delivery or collection. See our shipping policy below for more details.

Do you offer product samples?

Where possible, we provide samples so you can try products before committing to full sizes. Ask your stylist or therapist during your appointment.

Health & Safety

What hygiene practices do you follow?

We maintain rigorous hygiene standards. All tools are cleaned and sterilised between clients, we use fresh linens and towels for every service, and our spaces are regularly deep cleaned. Your health and safety are paramount.

I have allergies or sensitivities—what should I do?

Please inform us of any allergies, sensitivities, or health concerns when you book and again during your consultation. We'll perform patch tests when necessary (at least 48 hours before your appointment) and choose products that are safe and suitable for you.

What if I'm unwell on the day of my appointment?

If you're feeling unwell, please reschedule your appointment. We want you to feel your best during your visit, and we appreciate your consideration for our team and other clients.

Do you have parking?

Yes, we have sufficient free parking on-site for all guests.

Is your salon accessible?

Yes-" and please note that all main areas of Guava for hair, skin and beauty is accessible though our private garden view rooms for head spa and pedicures is not accessible though alternative arrangements can be made to accommodate wheelchair access in our main treatment rooms.

Can I bring my children?

If you are bringing your child to your hair appointment, please consider the length of your visit and make alternative plans, or phone the team on 03 5971 4927 to discuss a more child-appropriate time to visit.We appreciate your understanding and are here to assist you in making your time with us as relaxing as possible.

Do you offer group bookings or bridal services?

Yes. We can accommodate group bookings for special occasions, and we offer bridal packages for hair and skin preparation. Please contact us well in advance to discuss your needs and secure your preferred date.
