Understanding your ritual.

At Guava, we believe knowledge deepens the experience. Our glossary is designed to help you understand the language of hair, scalp, and skin — the ingredients we use, the techniques we love, and the rituals that make each treatment unique.

Whether you’re exploring our Head Spa, discovering the beauty of your natural curls, or simply curious about the products we use, this guide is here to help you feel informed, confident, and connected to your care.

Because at Guava, every detail — and every word — is part of your journey.

Curly Specialist Services

Curly cutting method
Guava's curl specialists will consult with you on your individual curl texture, lifestyle and appropriate curly-approved products to bring out the best for you and your hair.

Your initial cut appointment consists of consultation, dry curl by curl cutting, tailored basin service, curl diffuse and finishing with product and styling recommendations tailored for your curl texture and lifestyle.

Cado Method
The Cadō Curly Method is a system of cutting curly hair that aims to customise a cut to a client’s own unique curl pattern, density and texture. This four-part system of cutting, shaping, customising and styling to achieve specific outcomes like round shapes, long layers or diamond shapes. This method is not a one size fits all approach as we create to suit the individual curl texture and lifestyle of our clients.
The Cadō cutting technique is a certified method director Julie specialises in.

Curly Hydration Therapy
This unique curly-approved hair therapy begins on consultation to tailor the appropriate cleanse, steam & treatment infusion experience for you and your curls at the basin.

Once your basin treatment has been performed, your curly-approved styling products are applied and finished with a diffuse dry to enhance lustrous control and manageability to your natural curls making maintenance much easier from salon to home. Curly Hydration is the perfect service for any special event or simply just to see the full potential of your curl pattern.

Colour Services

Toner
Toning services are used to enhance and refresh your hair colour and reduce unwanted tones like brassiness.
This service also enhances shine, is customiable and gives your overall colour a more polished, balanced finish.
This service is usually recommended every 4-6weeks to maintain a fresh vibrant colour.

Root Melt
A Root Melt is when a deeper toner is blended at the roots of your hair and melted into a lighter tone through the mid-lengths to the ends of your hair for a soft natural fade. This toning option is perfect for someone wanting a more natural, lived-in colour that is less maintenance.

Balayage / Hair Painting
A foiled or hand-painted highlighting technique that creates a soft, natural gradient from darker roots to lighter ends.
Balayge achieves a more blended, low-maintenance finish with no or very little regrowth lines. Suitable for most hair types, adding dimension, movement and a more natural grow-out.

Tiered Pricing Breakdown
We offer tiered pricing based on the experience and seniority of your stylist — from Emerging to Senior Stylist and Director. This allows you to choose the level of expertise that suits your needs and budget.

If you’re unsure where you fit, we’re happy to guide you through a consultation and quotation. It’s important to us that your appointment is tailored to achieve the best outcome during your visit with us at Guava.

Hair Length Structure
Pricing can vary by hair length (short, medium, long, extra-long) to reflect the time, product, and technique required to achieve the best results. Longer or thicker hair often requires more product and extended appointment times at an extra charge to ensure quality and consistency.
